Rituals announces a special retail transformation: 1,500 boutiques refurbished in just 30 working days

This transformation process confirms Rituals’ commitment to physical retail and the role of boutiques as spaces where the brand’s universe comes to life every day.

Rituals Cosmetics will launch a special retail transformation in August, through the refurbishment of 1,500 boutiques in 30 countries, following an investment of 40 million euros. The operation is truly unique through the combination of scale and speed: instead of the new boutique concept being implemented in stages over several years, Rituals will transform 1,500 boutiques in just 30 working days. The transformation coincides with the introduction of several new collections, which require a more spacious and premium presentation, with furniture that reflects the new look and an updated atmosphere throughout the entire boutique and product range.

This transformation underlines Rituals’ decision to continue investing in physical retail, at a time when many retailers are closing their stores or increasingly shifting their focus to the online environment. “Physical retail remains essential for bringing our brand experience to life. What makes the operation special is that we are launching this experience simultaneously in 1,500 boutiques. On average, we are refurbishing over 40 boutiques every working day, with approximately 100 teams across Europe. It is an incredibly complex and challenging operation,” declares Gregory Bruyer, CCO.

Premium experience, with a focus on beauty and fragrance

The boutiques will have a brighter and more premium look, with increased attention given to the customer experience, the discovery process, and the presentation of products in store. At the center of the new concept is “Beauty World”, a central space that brings together skincare, make-up, hair care, and fragrance products. Thus, the beauty and fragrance categories in the Rituals portfolio benefit from more physical space in the boutique. Other collections will also have a more visible presence in the boutiques, including the Private Home Collection, the men’s collection “Homme”, and the new Hair Care line. In addition, the Luxury Travel Collection will be available in most boutiques.

Physical retail, an engine of growth

Despite the global trend of store closures, Rituals continues to invest strategically in physical retail. The boutique is the space where the brand truly comes to life, where customers can discover products and experience a moment of calm, for example, through a cup of tea, a hand massage, and personalized attention. This experience is complemented by digital services such as click & collect, access to the entire range, including products that are not physically available in the boutique, and delivery directly from the store, which bring together convenience and premium services.

At a global level, the beauty and wellbeing brand opens a boutique every working day, with a strong focus on Asia. Alongside a growing digital presence, which represents 20% of revenues, physical retail forms an important foundation for the brand’s future development and success. The August and September refurbishment targets Europe. In Asia and the Middle East, a similar process will follow in the first quarter of 2027, once the new collections are introduced in these regions as well.

Raymond Cloosterman, CEO & founder of Rituals:

“My dream has always been to build an international wellbeing brand: an innovative concept in the luxury beauty industry, the first to have brought together high-quality products, accessibility, and a positive impact. We are not building a retail company, but a brand. Our boutiques have played an essential role in this direction from day one: this is where our vision of luxury comes to life.”

Sustainable refurbishment through reuse

The refurbishment process is carried out according to the “remove, refresh, reuse” principle, through which existing furniture and materials are reused, in line with the brand’s B Corp certification. The new elements are designed to be flexibly integrated into different collections and store configurations. Thus, the refurbishment falls within Rituals’ broader direction: developing as a brand, with constant attention to responsibility, reuse, and positive impact. The same conviction also underlies the Profit Pledge, the initiative through which Rituals allocates 10% of its annual net profit to the wellbeing of people and the planet.
