Holy Molly reunites with Miss Mary, her musical alter ego, for a special release. “Lacrimi din stilou” is a song with a story, originally released almost 10 years ago by the artist under the name Miss Mary, a song whose lyrics will come naturally to you once you press play. Today, these two artistic identities come together to awaken nostalgia.
The song was composed by Maria Alexandra Florea (Holy Molly) and Marius Dia and produced by Alexandru Turcu. The original version from 10 years ago also included authors Apetroaie Lorean Georgian, Cătălin Fântâneanu, and Marius Drăghici.
“I wrote this song 10 years ago. A child with a dream so strong that it sometimes hurt. This year, ‘Lacrimi din stilou’ came back into my life through people, as if it shouted that it wanted to be sung again. And although I had no idea how to do it, everything aligned when I realized I had gone through two stories, two careers, and two musical personalities over the years. So, I decided not to completely reinterpret the song, but to take the most important step: to collaborate with my past self. This song is sung by me in two different eras and states. Miss Mary and Holy Molly… compressed into one soul,” Holy Molly tells us.
Holy Molly is a singer, songwriter, and actress known for her powerful voice and captivating lyrics. She is considered a rising star in the Romanian music industry and beyond. Her single “Shot a Friend” brought her a new fan base and a gold record, as the song reached number one in the top charts in Poland and the CIS charts, continuing the international success of tracks like “Menage a Trois,” also awarded a gold record, “Back to Her,” and “Twinkle Twinkle.” She followed up with the hit “Plouă” in collaboration with Tata Vlad, a song that climbed to the top of the radio charts in Romania. Her single “Watch Me” also managed to stay in the Top 10 Airplay Radio in Romania for several weeks, becoming one of the most listened-to songs during that period, and “Sunday Night” reached third place in the Radio Chart in Poland.
In 2023, the artist released the song “Totul meu” alongside ADI, which reached #1 in the radio charts and #1 in Romania on TikTok, being the most used song of the year. Additionally, the artist unveiled her debut EP titled “Liliac.” This year, her single “Freaks in Town” sparked interest in Turkey, and her latest collaboration with Randi for the song “Somnambul” quickly trended on YouTube and continues to make waves across all platforms.
