Friday, March 20, 2026, Herzogenaurach: Today, adidas presents the official away kits for all 25 partner federations, including 13 nations already qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2026™.
Inspired by the unique culture of each country, the away jerseys reinterpret classic adidas aesthetics within the FIFA World Cup™ context, such as geometric patterns and stylized vertical lines, in a modern and contemporary way that resonates with both fans and athletes.
The adidas story in football is a deep one, from on field performance to the cultural influence of street style. Marking its presence on the biggest stage of world football for the first time in 36 years, the adidas Trefoil emblem, a symbol of adidas originality, is printed on the right side of the chest of each jersey.
Each kit pays tribute to the football culture of the ’90s, reinterpreted for the demands of the modern athlete and created with pride for the culture and community of athletes and fans who will wear it.
Each jersey tells the story of its nation through subtle references to unique landscapes, important dates, art and architecture, all created using cutting edge technologies to balance historical and contemporary design.
Sam Handy, GM Football at adidas, said: “As we approach a World Cup of huge scale, hosted across three incredible countries, we felt it was the right moment and a real source of inspiration to bring back the Trefoil emblem to the biggest stage of world football. This is a defining era for football culture. Its style is spreading more than ever across different subcultures, and the jersey is perhaps the most authentic representation of this phenomenon. In this spirit, these designs pay tribute to each country while offering fans a collection of pieces that easily cross the boundary between pitch and stands.”
The entire collection is created for performance, designed to support world class players in moments of high pressure and in the varied conditions they will encounter across the three host countries. To cope with higher temperatures, mechanical 3D stretch materials developed through body mapping integrate the latest adidas CLIMACOOL+ materials, which remove sweat faster and maintain thermal comfort.
The jerseys are also made from jacquard material for a lighter finish that allows greater freedom of movement on the pitch. Each kit is completed by the three classic stripes on the shoulders, applied through a herringbone stitch pattern designed to improve breathability and ensure optimal ventilation even in the most demanding climate conditions.
As part of the global launch of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ away kits, adidas hosted an immersive event in Los Angeles, bringing together athletes, content creators and cultural figures from football, music and urban culture.
The brand transformed Lower Grand Tunnel in downtown Los Angeles into an energetic urban celebration, unveiling the new away jerseys and marking the return of the adidas Originals Trefoil emblem on federation kits for the first time in decades.
The evening included a moment by artist Kaytranada and a headline concert by Baby Keem, turning a traffic block into a vibrant celebration of football culture.
All adidas federation away jerseys will be available starting Friday, March 20, at 11:00 EET on adidas.ro and in selected stores.
Design presentation for several nations
Argentina
The away jersey is inspired by Argentina’s rich artistic heritage and features a distinctive graphic pattern in shades of blue, inspired by the country’s traditional motifs. White accents on a black base highlight stylized lines, complex floral spirals and climbing plants, bringing the design to life through strong contrast.
On the back of the collar, a custom motif with the inscription “Argentina” is engraved, placed in front of the Sun of May, the national sun symbol.
Germany
Continuing the visual language of the home kit, the diagonal chevrons are reinterpreted as an all over navy pattern, forming a rhythmic repetition of three interconnected shapes. The color palette combines shades from different eras of DFB history. It includes a reference to the classic blue zip jackets worn in 1954, as well as the blue white training shirts from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s, while aqua blue accents reference the colorful kits of the ’90s. All these elements create a strong and distinct visual effect.
A discreet label with the German flag, placed at the base of the jersey, celebrates the long standing partnership between adidas and Germany since 1954.
Italy
Inspired by traditional Italian tailoring and the elegant suits worn by the national team in historic celebration moments, the jersey features an all over light blue and white pattern that replicates the complex fabrics of these garments.
The sleeves, crests and numbers incorporate navy and gold details, and on the back of the collar appears the inscription “Italia”, stylized in a monogram that evokes the idea of personalization, belonging and identity.
Japan
Inspired by the concept “Colours Beyond the Horizon”, Japan’s away jersey design comes to life through a striped pattern in 12 distinct colors, representing the unity and connection of the nation, on and off the pitch.
On a cream white base, 11 faded vertical lines descend across the jersey in a rain like effect, symbolizing the 11 players on the field. The 12th line, placed centrally and in an intense shade inspired by the red sun on the national flag, symbolizes the heart of the team, the fans.
The Japanese flag is proudly printed on the back of the collar, as a symbol of national identity and collective pride.
Mexico
Inspired by Mexico’s rich history, the away jersey integrates a grey graphic pattern across the entire surface, applied on a white base, influenced by motifs known as “Grecas”, found in traditional architecture and art. The recurring motifs form a repetitive pattern of abstract steps, referencing the stepped exterior of traditional Mexican buildings.
The phrase “SOMOS MEXICO”, meaning “We are Mexico”, is inscribed on the back of the collar and symbolizes the unity and passion that define the Mexican spirit ahead of hosting the FIFA World Cup™ for the third time.
Spain
The design of Spain’s away jersey is inspired by the country’s rich literary tradition. A complex pyrite colored pattern, inspired by illustrations and graphics from classical books and manuscripts, punctuates a cream white base that evokes the color of a page.
The sleeves and collar include gold and burgundy details, and the inscription “ESPANA” is engraved on the back of the collar, the distinctive letter N celebrating the Spanish language and its cultural heritage.
