Let’s Do It, Romania! announces National Cleanup Day on September 19, together with 190 countries worldwide

There are 6 months left until the largest national mobilization for cleaning and protecting the environment. The association Let’s Do It, Romania! announces that National Cleanup Day, officially recognized by law, will take place on September 19 this year. Over 2.9 million volunteers from across the country have become DOERS and have taken part, over the past 15 years, in cleanup actions organized by the largest social movement in Romania, which is part of the global organization Let’s Do It World.

The theme of the thirteenth edition of Let’s Do It, Romania! invites reflection through the profound and necessary question “What do you leave behind?”. This year’s campaign is not only about the annual cleanup, but about the way we live in our everyday lives and the legacy we leave to present and future generations.

“On September 19, we clean more than waste from roadsides, parks, waters or forests. Our intention is to awaken and clean the collective conscience through this call both to reflection and to action. In the fall of 2024, we managed to obtain official legal recognition for National Cleanup Day and we are grateful to all those who have joined us year after year to fulfill this mission. This year’s question ‘What do you leave behind?’ should guide us not only on National Cleanup Day, but every day,” says Ștefan Buciuc, President of Let’s Do It, Romania!

This year’s edition continues the tradition established by Law 266/2024, through which the third Saturday of September is officially recognized as National Cleanup Day.

In 2025, over 270,000 volunteers from across the country collected, in Bucharest and the 41 counties, more than 427,000 bags of waste. This year, more than 300,000 DOERS are expected.

Registrations for September 19, 2026 will be available soon. Until then, every conscious and responsible gesture matters, and people can report waste areas in the dedicated Let’s Do It Romania! app available on iOS and Android, which can be downloaded here.

In the next 6 months, Let’s Do It, Romania! will organize a series of targeted cleanup actions in various areas across the country and encourages responsibility every day.

Those who wish to become volunteers in the organizing team in Bucharest Ilfov can register by email at voluntar@letsdoitromania.ro.

Those who wish to donate and equip Let’s Do It, Romania! volunteers can do so here. Those interested in corporate sponsorships can send an email to corporate@letsdoitromania.ro.
