Signed by The Drop, the special projects division of Global Records, the fundraising campaign for Polizu Maternity Hospital – “Lullaby for Polizu” – brings together, in harmony and solidarity, 18 of Romania’s most beloved artists who lend their voices to deliver a message filled with hope and compassion.
These artists have united their talents to create a song that becomes a symbol of care for the most vulnerable among us: the mothers and newborns at Polizu Maternity Hospital. Under the production of Alex Cotoi, the artists have crafted a melody that reflects the emotion and impact of every donation, transforming it into an act of hope. The song “Let’s Be Superheroes” was composed by Florian Rus, IRAIDA, Alina Eremia, and Olivia Addams and produced by Alex Cotoi. The artists participating in the campaign include: Adi Istrate, Alessandra, Alina Eremia, AMI, Andrei Bănuță, Bianca Dragomir, Dayana, Florian Rus, Holy Molly, IRAIDA, Liviu Teodorescu, Mira, Nicole Cherry, Olivia Addams, Randi, Roxen, Theo Rose, and Yuka. Together, they collaborated on the song “Let’s Be Superheroes,” a musical manifesto inviting solidarity and support for the renovation of one of Romania’s most important maternity hospitals.
#SongForPolizu: Save the Children is undertaking the most extensive renovation and equipment project for Polizu Maternity Hospital, requiring 3,000,000 Euros to modernize the Operating Room, the ICU, and the Obstetrics-Gynecology 4 unit. These sections are critical for the care of premature babies weighing just 500 grams and complex pregnancies, including those of teenagers under 17 years old. Annually, approximately 3,200 procedures are performed in the Operating Room, and 5,000 patients are treated in the ICU for difficult pathologies, including high-risk pregnancies. In 2023, Polizu Maternity Hospital oversaw the birth of 321 premature babies, 5.3% of whom were at the edge of viability, and treated 162 minor mothers, aged 12 to 17.
The song is a natural expression of the concept behind the fundraising campaign, which stems from the idea that just as a mother’s voice and lullaby help soothe her child, the only sound that can uplift an entire maternity hospital is the sound of everyone’s donations. Therefore, we sampled the sounds of donations (keyboard clicks, SMS pings, swoosh of sent messages, etc.), and transformed them into the heroic instrumental for the “Lullaby for Polizu,” which can be heard in the song “Let’s Be Superheroes” and in the campaign ad.
