Metro Boomin, the architect of the hip-hop and trap sound of the last decade, will make his first appearance in Romania at the anniversary edition of UNTOLD X, featuring an exclusive show that marks his only festival appearance in Europe this year. Considered one of the greatest producers of contemporary music, with a pivotal role in defining modern hip-hop, the American artist will take the main stage at the UNTOLD festival for the first time, promising a show that aims to redefine the festival experience.
With a unique vision and a recognizable sound signature, Leland Tyler Wayne, aka Metro Boomin, has collaborated with the biggest names in the music industry: The Weeknd, Post Malone, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, 21 Savage, Future, and Drake. Metro has turned the modern urban sound into a mainstream phenomenon.
Metro Boomin started with a series of collaborations with rising young artists like Future, Young Thug, and 21 Savage—relationships that have evolved into long-term partnerships. By the age of 20, he was already producing hits such as “Karate Chop” (with Future), “Honest,” and “Some More.”
With over 31.7 billion streams on Spotify, more than 47 million monthly listeners, multiple singles debuting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, award-winning productions, and instantly iconic albums, Metro is among the top influencers of global urban culture.
A visionary and innovator, Metro Boomin is the artist behind tracks that have shaped modern hip-hop and amassed billions of streams on streaming platforms: “Mask Off” (1.82 billion streams), “Ric Flair Drip” (1.74 billion), “Creepin’” (feat. The Weeknd & 21 Savage – 1.55 billion), and “Space Cadet,” with over 1 billion streams on Spotify. Each Metro Boomin production has become an integral part of the urban sound of the last decade. In 2023, Metro and The Weeknd returned with the track “Double Fantasy” (feat. Future), released as part of the soundtrack for the series The Idol, where The Weeknd was also a producer. In 2024, he solidified his status as a global superstar. Together with Future, Metro Boomin released two consecutive albums—”We Don’t Trust You” and “We Still Don’t Trust You”—both debuting at number one on the Billboard 200. The track “Like That,” featuring Future and Kendrick Lamar, debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Global 200, with over 59.6 million streams in the US in its first week and quickly became a viral phenomenon, a statement of contemporary hip-hop culture.
Metro Boomin is one of the few artists to have simultaneously had 10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, joining names like The Beatles, Taylor Swift, Drake, and Playboi Carti.
His debut album, “Not All Heroes Wear Capes” (2018), was followed by “Heroes & Villains” (2022), both entering directly at number one on the Billboard 200. The album “Heroes & Villains” surpassed 4.37 billion streams, even outperforming classic albums like 50 Cent’s “Get Rich or Die Tryin’.” With these works, Metro has cemented his leadership in a highly competitive industry.
In 2024, along with Future, he was named Hitmaker of the Year by the prestigious GQ magazine and hosted the GQ Men of the Year gala, alongside iconic figures such as Pharrell Williams and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. This gala confirmed the American artist’s impact beyond music—in fashion, lifestyle, and global pop culture.
That same year, he was nominated for Grammy Awards in the categories of “Best Rap Album” for “We Don’t Trust You” and “Best Rap Song” for “Like That,” further solidifying his status as an icon of the international music industry.
His artistic versatility has also extended to the cinematic realm. In 2023, he was the executive producer of the soundtrack for the animated film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, collaborating with artists such as Lil Wayne, Nas, Offset, A$AP Rocky, and Don Toliver.
Metro Boomin has collaborated with global superstars like Post Malone, Travis Scott, Gunna, and Kanye West. The single “Congratulations,” which he worked on with UNTOLD’s anniversary edition headliner Post Malone, debuted in the Billboard 100 Top 10, was awarded 14 Platinum Discs, and surpassed 2 billion streams on the Spotify platform.
