Loredana, Andra, Gojira, Nicole Cherry, Șerban Copoț, and Serghei Mizil have one surprising thing in common: their appearances in the film “Căsătoria” (“The Marriage”), directed by Mihai Bendeac, which premieres in theaters across the country starting December 6.
Andra takes on the role of a diva who moves and impresses with her voice in a modern tango rendition of “Spune-mi unde, spune-mi cine” (Tell Me Where, Tell Me Who), originally performed by Dan Spătaru in 1968.
Also inspired by Romanian musical history, Loredana recreates her first moment of glory on the big screen: her musical debut in 1986 at the age of 16. Loredana performed the song “Mă întreb ce să fac?” (I Wonder What to Do?) with lyrics by Marius Țeicu and Eugen Rotaru at the Mamaia Light Music Festival. The artist quickly became the youngest participant and winner of the grand prize in the festival’s history. Viewers will enjoy a romanticized reenactment of this iconic scene.
Nicole Cherry, with her stylish and innocent presence, unintentionally changes the protagonists’ destiny with a lifesaving intervention as a charming shopkeeper. On the opposite side, Serghei Mizil stands out in a very “dynamic” role as a noisy taxi driver ready to take you anywhere—for the “right” price.
George Andreescu, better known as Gojira, a producer, professional DJ, and podcaster, steps into a less familiar role as an actor. In “Căsătoria,” he is the right man at the right time—a policeman. With quick thinking and inspiration, Gojira intensifies the plot and punctuates it… sonically.
Reflecting his jovial nature, Gojira humorously shared his experience:
“When Mihai Bendeac asked me to join his film ‘Căsătoria,’ I realized it would be one of the most important roles I’ve ever played in a Romanian movie. For this reason, I prepared intensely for six months, thoroughly understanding the script and my role. I arrived on set, the filming lasted 15 minutes, and I didn’t have a single line. Seriously, though, I was thrilled to work on this movie with true professionals and, of course, with Mihai Bendeac.”
Șerban Copoț, a former member of the pop supergroup Animal-X, takes on his first “bad boy” role in “Căsătoria.”Reflecting on the collaboration, Șerban shared:
“It was a pleasure to work with Mihai Bendeac, and honestly, I was curious to see how he would perform as a director. After seeing some edited scenes, I can confidently say I am proud to be part of the cast of a film that will leave its mark on cinema history.”
“Căsătoria” tells the story of a degenerate gambler in a desperate situation (played by Liviu Pintileasa) and his two idiotic friends (played by Mihai Bendeac and Vlad Drăgulin), who seek easy money to sustain their vices.
The cast also includes actors Gloria Găitan, Mihaela Teleoacă, Alin Florea, Lucian Ionescu, Anca Dinicu, Ilona Brezoianu, and others.
“Căsătoria,” a Vertical Content production, is distributed by Vertical Entertainment and will premiere in theaters nationwide on December 6, 2024.
