The event also aims to raise donations for building Romania’s first pediatric psychiatric hospital, through the Metropolis Foundation

On September 12, the “Masa Care Unește” (“The Table That Unites”) project comes to the center of Bucharest with a large-scale event that aims to put the capital in the Guinness World Records. In Constitution Square and on Unirii Boulevard, a 5.5-kilometer-long table will be built, made of recyclable materials, at which 20,000 people will sit simultaneously. The event will start at 4:00 PM, and admission is free, but based on prior reservation. Beyond the attempt to break the previous world record, this year’s edition also has a charitable component: the funds raised will support the Metropolis Foundation’s project to build a pediatric psychiatric hospital in Romania.

Organizers want to double the length of the table and the number of participants
“Masa Care Unește,” a project initiated by Bloom The World, entered the Guinness World Records on September 13, 2025, in Alba Iulia, for the longest table made of recyclable materials. Set up around the Alba Carolina Citadel, the table had an official length of 2,782.96 meters, and the event was attended by over 10,000 people, including guests from the United States, the Netherlands, Germany and Nepal. In Bucharest, the table will be 5.5 kilometers long and will be built from Euro pallets and particleboard panels that will later be recycled, with the goal of having 20,000 people seated around it at the same time. The certification process will involve verifying the dimensions, structure and materials used, as well as the number of participants present at the table simultaneously. A Guinness World Records delegation is also expected at the Bucharest event.

“Until now, we’ve built this concept around smaller tables or within already-formed communities. Bucharest, however, raises the stakes: we’re talking about a large city, with very different communities, and the challenge is to bring 20,000 people to the same table and create, even if just for a few hours, a real space for meeting and dialogue. We believe cities need such contexts, where people can rediscover the joy of being together, get to know each other and contribute ideas to the community they’re part of. ‘Masa Care Unește’ takes this idea to an unprecedented scale for us and turns the table into a symbol of unity, belonging and involvement,” said Alexa Vîlcan, Founder of Bloom The World.

You can take part in “Masa Care Unește” too
Participation is free, but those who want to take part in the event must reserve their spot in advance on the masacareuneste.ro platform. Registration can be done both individually and for groups, and the invitation is also extended to NGOs, associations, institutions, communities or companies that want to take part.
