Levi’s showcases mastery, time-tested techniques, and the true art of denim in the Fall/Winter 2024 made in Japan collection

During World War II, due to the rationing of sewing machines, Japanese artisans began producing fabrics using manual looms. Developing their own interpretation of the American style of denim manufacturing, they applied their traditions of complex craftsmanship and the constant refinement of techniques over time. Japanese denim is now considered one of the most coveted materials in the world. Through its Made in Japan collections, the Levi’s brand honors these rich traditions and practices, offering premium selvedge denim from Japan. With brand-new and classic styles, the Fall/Winter 2024 Made in Japan collection showcases superior craftsmanship, time-honored techniques, and the true art of denim.

The Fall/Winter 2024 Made in Japan collection continues the partnership with the renowned Kaihara Denim Mill in Hiroshima. Admired for their impeccable attention to detail and unwavering commitment to tradition — including the use of vintage looms — Kaihara Denim Mill’s unique in-house yarn-dyeing technique helps achieve beautiful indigo denim shades. Upon closer inspection, this superior denim reveals textures, depth, and character.

Transforming jeans from a utilitarian uniform into true works of art, Levi’s Fall/Winter 2024 Made in Japan collection highlights premium fabric with designs and washes that improve with every wear. For women, the new Plank Straight jeans offer premium denim perfect for playing with proportions and can be paired with a variety of tops, while the High Rise Boyfriend provides a relaxed fit that is both timeless and modern. For men, the pants include the 1980s 501 jeans, a well-established classic silhouette perfected to the highest standards, and the Wide Pleat Crop, a new classic with front pleats and a wide cut. This season’s denim is an absolute blue, but the varied washes give it a range of stunning hues.

Women’s tops in the collection include the timeless Classic Type II jacket, as well as the Short Type III Trucker, a cropped version of the classic style that can be paired with a wide range of pants. For men, tops include the Utility Trucker, stylish and versatile, and the Type I jacket, a vintage-inspired silhouette with a relaxed fit and pleated detailing. Each garment in the collection features exclusive details, such as the back label, an inner label inspired by the Hinomaru (Japanese flag), and a hidden surprise in the indigo tab.

“Rooted in premium selvedge denim, which combines superior craftsmanship and timeless finishes, our Made in Japan collections refine classic designs and explore new patterns with these rich traditions,” said Paul O’Neill, design director at Levi Strauss & Co. “Through this exquisite Japanese denim, we strive to offer a fresh look that will stand the test of time.”

The Fall/Winter 2024 Made in Japan collection is now available on Levi.com and at select Levi’s stores.
