Jonathan Anderson reinvents the modern dancer’s wardrobe

Jonathan Anderson, the renowned Irish designer, made a return to London to showcase his latest women’s collection, where he reimagines the wardrobe of a modern dancer. Presented in an iconic building by the Thames, the collection blends everyday practicality with elevated, artistic touches. Anderson used a variety of luxurious materials, including leather, silk, and thick wool, along with vibrant colours, to craft his innovative designs.

The collection features ruffled dresses with lace necklines in bold shades, oversized waistcoats that fall just below the knee, cropped and quilted trench coats, as well as bomber jackets that take on the appearance of sweatshirts. The collection’s trousers, inspired by the bomber style, add a shiny, dramatic flair to the lineup.

One of the standout elements of the collection was the exaggerated leather skirts, featuring oversized ruffles that cleverly concealed the tight-fitting tops they were paired with, creating the illusion of a single piece. The footwear also played a significant role in the collection, with round-toed boots featuring an open back zip closure emerging as one of the most acclaimed designs.
