Francesca Bellettini to lead Gucci, Kering confirms

Kering has officially confirmed that Francesca Bellettini will take over as President and CEO of Gucci, replacing Stefano Cantino, whose tenure at the helm of the Italian megabrand lasted less than a year. The move comes as part of new CEO Luca de Meo’s strategy to simplify the group’s leadership structure and restore stability at its most important house.

Until now, Bellettini has served as Kering’s co-deputy CEO in charge of brand development, while also overseeing Yves Saint Laurent, where she previously delivered strong growth and strategic consistency. Her new appointment marks a critical step in Kering’s efforts to revitalise Gucci, a brand that has faced declining sales and investor pressure over the past few years.

At the same time, Jean-Marc Duplaix, co-deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer of Kering, will retain his COO role, as de Meo moves to streamline reporting lines within the group.

A New Chapter for Gucci

Gucci has long been the group’s financial powerhouse, but recent results have shown double-digit sales declines, prompting urgent restructuring. With Bellettini at the helm, Kering is betting on her proven track record and strong management style to rebuild Gucci’s momentum.

Her mission will be to:

  • restore stability within Gucci’s leadership,
  • align closely with the brand’s new creative direction,
  • reconnect with aspirational consumers who have drifted away amid price changes and identity shifts,
  • and improve commercial performance through product and retail optimisation.

What This Means for Kering

By consolidating leadership and removing the dual “co-deputy CEO” structure, de Meo is clarifying responsibilities at the top of the group. Investors and industry observers see Bellettini’s appointment as both a safe choice — thanks to her experience inside Kering — and a bold move to reposition Gucci for long-term growth.

Gucci’s future now depends on Bellettini’s ability to blend strategic discipline with creative innovation, bringing the brand back in sync with the energy and influence it once held on the global luxury stage.
