Three days of runway shows. Twenty designers. One city that proved it belongs on the international fashion map.
Between 24 and 28 March 2026, Bucharest became the main stage of fashion in Eastern Europe, with the fourth edition of Mercedes-Benz Bucharest Fashion Week bringing together established and emerging designers, industry professionals, international buyers and press for runway shows, conferences, curatorial installations and creative industry events organized under the umbrella of the Council of Fashion Designers of Romania.

The Main Stage Romanian Designers Who Defined the Week
From 25 March, the main stage of the event returned to the Throne Room of the National Museum of Art of Romania, where audiences discovered the autumn/winter 2026/27 collections of Romanian designers who today define the contemporary identity of local fashion. On the main stage: Alexandra Șipa, Carmen Secăreanu, Dualitae, M. Marquise, Medeea, Murmur, Rafaela Pestrițu, Rhea Costa and Vestiaire D’un Oiseau Libre each bringing a distinct perspective on contemporary design, from architectural minimalism and experimental construction to modern couture and conceptual explorations of silhouette.

Elegance, fine materials, unique pieces and femininity paraded with courage in front of spectators and the collections even won over Lidia Buble, who called one of them “very sexy, very feminine and very powerful.”

Beyond Romania – Five Countries on One Runway
The 2026 edition brought together designers from Romania, Poland, Ukraine, Hungary and the Republic of Moldova, confirming the event’s regional reach and the growing interest in creative collaboration across Central and Eastern Europe. This is no longer just a local fashion week it is a genuine regional platform.
The Most Talked About Moment – Sightless Fashion
Among the most original projects of this edition was Sightless Fashion a multisensory experience created for people with visual impairments, which transformed each look into a sound universe built from the materials and textures of the garments, inviting audiences to explore fashion beyond the visual dimension, through sound, space and movement. In a world where fashion is almost entirely visual, this was a reminder that style can be felt in ways we have never considered.
Three New Concepts That Changed the Format
The FW26/27 edition introduced three new concepts: Archive Sale, a pop-up bringing together Romanian designers and pieces from their collection archives; Influencer House, a dedicated space for content creators; and Next Generation Party, a moment celebrating the emerging creative community of designers, students, visual artists and content creators.
Why This Matters for Romanian Fashion
Dozens of fashion editors from prestigious publications and buyers from major global stores came to discover Romanian designers. The label “Made in Romania” is no longer just a local pride point it is becoming a mark of quality that the international industry is actively seeking out.
Bucharest Fashion Week 2026 did not just showcase clothes. It showed that Romanian fashion has something to say and the world is starting to listen.
