Launched in 1976 with the ADISTAR 2000 SPIKE, the Adistar line has always been defined by innovation, pushing performance further from interchangeable spikes to long-distance stability. Over time, it became a symbol of adidas innovation.
By the 2000s, the family of silhouettes evolved to meet the growing demand for long-distance running shoes with advanced cushioning built for the needs of marathon and ultramarathon runners.
The ADISTAR CONTROL 5 was first introduced in 2008. More than just a retro running shoe, this symbol of Y2K performance was designed for road stability, powered by FORMOTION technology.
In 2021, ADISTAR made a comeback as a modern endurance trainer, built for steady, consistent mileage featuring dual-density Repetitor cushioning, a curved midsole, and an upper made from recycled mesh engineered for comfort and control.
ADISTAR CONTROL 5: A Legendary Return
Today, the model is completely reinvented for a new generation. Rooted in its legacy and adapted for the present, the ADISTAR CONTROL 5 draws on adidas’ long-running tradition of performance innovation, incorporating a durable rubber outsole, metallic detailing, and a breathable mesh upper.
Going beyond simple retro nostalgia, the new model brings functional technology back to its most contemporary form: the FORMOTION heel unit enhances stability, while the ADIPRENE+ midsole and Torsion bar in the midfoot deliver cushioning and balance with every stride.
The open mesh upper is complemented by silver metallic overlays inspired by the Y2K aesthetic, shaping a silhouette that fuses performance with contemporary style.
