13 counties, 20 schools and over 4,000 students:Doers School puts sustainability education in motion

Let’s Do It, Romania! presents the first results of the Doers School program, launched in May to bring sustainability education and civic engagement to as many schools in the country as possible. And the beginning speaks for itself: in just one week, 540 schools registered, a sign of a strong desire to bring environmental education closer to students.

From these registrations, 20 schools were selected for the pilot program, and with the expansion of educational materials, another 20 schools joined this autumn. Thus, Doers School today means involvement in 13 counties, with 4,154 students and 245 teachers who have already worked with our educational resources. And starting this autumn, the impact has doubled: another 20 schools and over 8,000 students have joined the program.

One of the most impactful projects carried out this year within Doers School is the renovation of Cetatea Veche School in Huedin, where 17 children study. The intervention, carried out in two stages, in July and September, was made possible with the support of the Broadridge Financial Solutions team, partner of Let’s Do It, Romania!.

The volunteers carried out:
● repair works,
● cleaning and painting,
● equipping the school with mattresses, desks and chairs for teachers, changing the staff room furniture and building the school library, which they stocked with books donated by company volunteers,
● reorganising spaces and creating a safe and friendly environment for students.

In total, 60 Broadridge Financial Solutions volunteers contributed to transforming this school, which has become an example of how teachers, the local community and the private sector can work together for the benefit of children.

“Doers School was born from the belief that environmental education must be lived, not just taught. In Huedin we once again saw how much people who choose to get involved can change. When teachers, volunteers and companies pull in the same direction, the school becomes not just a learning space, but a place where children feel they can build the future.” Laura Găina, Cluj County Coordinator @ Let’s Do It, Romania!.

The partnership between Let’s Do It, Romania! and Broadridge Financial Solutions celebrates three years this year, during which national and local impact projects have been developed. Throughout the collaboration:
● over 360 Broadridge volunteers have been involved in civic actions,
● approximately 60 employees have contributed directly to Doers School activities,
● it supported the development and inauguration of a mountain trail, a project carried out together with Nature o’Clock and Salvamont, a premiere for the organisation,
● it organised a photography exhibition in Turda and Cluj-Napoca with images from various clean-up actions from previous editions of National Clean-Up Day.

These initiatives show that healthy partnerships can transform entire communities and support education in a concrete way.

How schools can get involved in Doers School
The program remains open to primary and secondary schools. Interested teachers can:
● access the registration form available on the Let’s Do It, Romania! platforms,
● use free educational modules suitable for Green Week or “Școala Altfel”,
● involve students in practical activities, community projects and meetings with specialists.

Pilot schools benefit from direct support from the Let’s Do It, Romania! team, dedicated resources and the opportunity to implement local projects with visible impact.
