For the third time this year, Vidra Productions returns to the set, this time with “Combinations and Relationships”, a comedy that tackles the clichés and misunderstandings typical of the fast-dating era. Written by Letiția Roșculeț (“Part-Time Daddy”) and Matei Dima, the film explores the dominance of dating apps, showcasing the clash of perspectives between men and women. It hilariously illustrates how these opposing views can lead to unexpected and humorous situations. The release is scheduled for winter 2025.

Synopsis
The film follows the story of three 28-year-old friends who set out to find partners so they don’t attend their 10-year high school reunion alone. Along the way, they encounter a man with traditional views (Matei Dima), turning the story into a challenging confrontation between feminism and misogyny. In a world where a simple online comment can change destinies, the two sides battle without any clear winner.
“In the era of dating apps, I’ve noticed that the hottest debates focus on the conflict between men and women, each trying to figure out what the other wants. I found it interesting to explore both sides of this story—from the perspectives of both men and women—to provide a complete picture, hoping they’ll understand each other better. The film ‘Combinations and Relationships’ is not a serious analysis but a comedy that humorously and honestly captures the real aspects of today’s dating scene, without taking anyone’s side,” says Letiția Roșculeț, screenwriter and director.

The cast features new talents for Vidra Productions’ portfolio, including Irina Noapteș (Anca), Mihaela Velicu (Vicky), Anastasia Florea (Lia), Daniel Nuță (Ștefan), and Ștefan Iancu (Adi). As usual, the cast will also include some surprise names to delight the audience.
“We decided to make a more adult-oriented comedy this time, capturing what’s happening in Romania’s dating scene and in long-term relationships. We hope that couples who come to see the movie together will stay together afterward because we’ve revealed quite a lot—both me about men and Letiția about women,” says Matei Dima, creative producer and actor.
After more than a year since his last leading role, Matei Dima will also star in the film as Max, a masculinity coach who teaches men how to dominate relationships and manipulate women. For this role, Matei underwent an intense preparation and lost over 30 kilograms. The actor admits that the film gave him the perfect excuse to make a long-desired change:
“This film was the motivation I needed to make this change. I knew that, to play Max, I needed the complete package: to look good on the outside because, sometimes, that influences how you feel on the inside—and vice versa. A masculinity coach couldn’t look bad. I made this effort both for the role and for myself, in everyday life.”
“Combinations and Relationships” will be released in February 2025, marking the 12th film in Vidra Productions’ portfolio, a company that has redefined Romanian cinema with blockbuster, feel-good films.
