Over One Billion Kilometers Traveled and a Decade of Reinventing Urban Mobility

Bucharest, June 20 – Launched in Romania in 2015, Uber is celebrating its 10th anniversary this summer, marking a decade of achievements, innovation, and impact on the way we move around the city. From the first ride on a cold February day in Bucharest to millions of rides across the country, Uber has become a part of everyday life for both riders and drivers.

A Decade of Achievements

• Distance covered: Rides made via Uber have covered more than one billion kilometers on Romanian roads.
• Driver milestones: Regarding the dedication of drivers who chose to work with Uber over the past 10 years, one driver holds the record with over 60,000 completed rides, while a female driver stands out with over 30,000 rides.
• Presence in Romania: Uber operates in 26 cities across the country, connecting communities and supporting economic opportunities. Uber launched in Bucharest and later expanded to Brașov, Timișoara, Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Constanța, Craiova, Pitești, Ploiești, Galați, Oradea, Brăila, Sibiu, Buzău, Bacău, Râmnicu Vâlcea, Alba Iulia, Arad, Târgu Mureș, Baia Mare, Târgoviște, Suceava, Satu Mare, Botoșani, Tulcea, and Focșani.
• Longest ride: The longest ride completed with Uber in Romania took place in 2017, totaling 990 kilometers round trip, from Bucharest to Rebra Monastery (Bistrița-Năsăud County) and back.

Celebrating with the Public: Uber Gallery at MARe

To mark this anniversary, Uber is opening an immersive exhibition on June 21 at MARe – the Museum of Recent Art in Bucharest. The experience, open to the public, tells the story of Uber in Romania through:

• Themed dioramas: Uber Pink, Uber Green, Uber Pet, Uber Lama, and BOOcharest
• A VR installation where visitors can learn about Uber in an interactive way
• A Lost & Found corner showcasing the most unusual items left behind in Uber rides
• Portraits of Uber drivers

Visitors will also have the chance to enter a special contest. The grand prize is ONE year of free Uber rides, along with a complete UNTOLD package for two, including accommodation, transportation, and VIP festival access. Second and third place winners will each receive two VIP tickets to UNTOLD.
