adidas launches the first running shoe under 100 grams: Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3

  • adidas launches the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 the lightest and fastest Adizero model ever created, with an average weight of just 97* grams.
  • Designed for race day, the shoe is the result of three years of cutting-edge research. 30% lighter than the previous model and with a 1.6% improvement in running efficiency, this model is ready to set records before it’s even laced up.
  • The interaction between the foam and carbon plate has been completely reimagined to deliver top performance for elite athletes. The model will be available in limited edition starting 25 April on adidas.ro and in specialist retailers.

adidas launches the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3, the lightest and fastest competition shoe ever created by the brand. The model marks the beginning of a new era in “supershoe” innovation and will make its debut this weekend in London, worn by adidas’ fastest athletes.

Continuing the tradition of record-setting performances, the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 represents a radical leap forward. Developed around an ambitious goal creating the first adidas competition shoe under 100 grams the Evo 3 redefines the boundaries of what is possible in endurance running.

“Our goal was to reach a two-digit number on the scale, but with better performance than we had ever achieved.” Stephan Scholten, VP Product, adidas.

At the top of the Adizero range one of the most award-winning running shoe series globally the Evo 3 introduces a series of major innovations designed to maximise speed and efficiency:

  • Next-generation Lightstrike Pro Evo foam  the lightest and most responsive foam ever created by adidas, with weight reduced by nearly 50% compared to previous versions. At 39mm in height, it maximises cushioning, propulsion and energy return with every stride.
  • ENERGYRIM Technology  a revolutionary carbon-integrated system that supports the maximum volume of Lightstrike Pro Evo foam and delivers calibrated rigidity for stability. This combination redefines the way energy, propulsion and efficiency are generated in a competition shoe.
  • Ultra-lightweight upper and precision details  inspired by technologies used in kitesurfing sails, the design delivers an extremely lightweight feel with precise support. Every element, from laces to stitching, has been optimised for the marginal gains that make the difference on race day.
  • High-efficiency outsole  features strategically placed Continental™ rubber in the forefoot zone for reliable grip at high speeds, without compromising weight.

Patrick Nava, GM Running at adidas, states: “Creating the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 forced us to think differently from the very start. We didn’t limit ourselves to improving what we had already achieved we wanted to see how far we could go. We went through over a dozen versions, working closely with our athletes and testing the product both in the laboratories in Herzogenaurach and in altitude training camps in Kenya and Ethiopia. At this level, every detail matters we measured everything down to the nanogram. It was a long process, but the result truly changes the perception of what a competition shoe can be.”

The design continues the line of the previous model, the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 2, with a minimalist white aesthetic, accented by the three black stripes and a mirror-finish heel outsole that highlights the Energy Rim technology.

To complement the shoe, the elite athletes competing from London onwards will wear adidas’ newest competition kit, based on Techfit+ and Climacool+ technologies. The range includes a two-piece set (shorts and singlet) or the Techfit+ endurance suit a fully integrated race-day system designed for directional support and optimal ventilation in demanding conditions. Tests show that this suit can improve running efficiency by up to 1%. Athletes such as Sebastian Sawe and Tigist Assefa are expected to opt for the shorts and singlet combination, while Yomif Kejelcha and Amos Kipruto will compete in the full suit.

The model will be released in an extremely limited edition, and interested runners can register from 23 April for the chance to purchase a pair. The initial launch will take place on 25 April, with wider availability coming in the autumn marathon season. Price: 2,500 RON. For more information: https://www.adidas.ro/alergare-incaltaminte
