PRIMARK OPENS ITS FIRST STORE IN IAȘI, FOLLOWING A €10 MILLION INVESTMENT

The fashion retailer invested 10 million euros in its seventh store in Romania
The first Primark store in Iași county creates 115 local jobs

Primark has officially opened its first store in Iași, located in the Palas Iași mixed-use complex, following a €10 million investment, marking the retailer’s debut in Iași county.

The new store has a sales area of 3,100 sqm, spread over two floors, and offers customers in one of Romania’s largest and most dynamic regional cities the Primark collection of fashion, beauty products, lifestyle and everyday essentials, at excellent prices. The €10 million investment has created 115 new jobs for the local community.

Customers can discover the latest fashion collections for women, men and children, alongside dedicated areas for beauty products and homeware, offering inspiration, style and affordable prices for every occasion. The store has 15 traditional checkout tills, for as simple and convenient a shopping experience as possible.

Iași becomes the seventh city in Romania where Primark is present, following the recent openings in Craiova and Sibiu earlier this year. The retailer continues its development in the local market, with a new store planned in Bacău by the end of the year, while a third location in Bucharest is set to open in Sun Plaza in the 2026–2027 financial year.

Present at the official opening, the Mayor of Iași, Mihai Chirica, stated: “The opening of the first Primark store in Iași represents an important new investment for the city and confirms Iași’s appeal to international brands and to the development of the retail sector. We are pleased that Primark has chosen Iași to continue its expansion in Romania and that this investment brings new employment opportunities for the local community. The presence of international companies contributes to diversifying the commercial offer and strengthening Iași’s role as an important economic and regional hub. Primark currently operates seven stores in Romania: two in Bucharest (AFI Cotroceni and ParkLake Shopping Centre) and one each in Iulius Town Timișoara, VIVO! Cluj-Napoca, ElectroPutere Mall Craiova, Shopping City Sibiu and Palas Iași.

This is an important week for the brand’s international development. Primark has reached 500 stores globally, with the opening of a new location in Naples, Italy. Starting from a single store in Ireland in 1969, Primark currently serves millions of customers in 19 countries across Europe, the US and the Middle East.
