The Diors, a Family Guided by the Grasse Rose

Miss Dior Eau de Parfum opens its heart to the most beautiful, legendary Grasse Roses. Among them, Christian and Catherine’s roses.

For if Dior is a vast garden, then the Grasse Rose is its undisputed queen.

It is a beautiful story that deserves to be told: Christian Dior had given his heart to Provence, where he liked to retreat, far from the tumult of Paris, and find joy in a simple, hedonistic life. Here, above all, he saw his wildest dream come true: cultivating hectares of perfume flowers at the Château de la Colle Noire, in Montauroux. There is no doubt that he intended to use these perfume flowers in his fragrances, as he required the finest raw materials both for his perfumes and for his couture.

Catherine, his beloved sister, had moved to the Naÿssès estate in nearby Callian in the 1930s. It offered a long-term family refuge to which she returned after the painful years of the Occupation and deportation – for this woman who had bravely followed the love of her life to join the French Resistance. She rediscovered peace and beauty in the Fayence region, where she transformed the Naÿssès farmhouse originally flanked by fields of legumes planting Centifolia Roses destined for perfume production.

The fate of the Dior family was sealed. The May Rose, queen of perfume flowers, symbolized their roots in the Provençal soil and their declaration of love for perfumes.

Time has passed and this moving story has continued: the Château de la Colle Noire and the Naÿssès estate are brimming with life, dedicated, among other things, to cultivating the Centifolia Roses that shine at the heart of Dior perfumes. These flowers are joined by harvests from a dozen Grasse estates that are exclusive Dior partners, supported by a solidarity initiative started by Carole Biancalana from the “Domaine de Manon,” then Armelle Janody from the “Clos de Callian.” Cultivated on this same unique terroir, the May roses nestle between the sea and the mountains where, sun-drenched and swept by the Mediterranean winds, they thrive, thanks to these opposing forces.

The historic, timeless dagger bow that embraces the neck of the Miss Dior bottle is a signature couture touch. Today, its sharp silhouette offers daring contemporary interpretations through subtle variations.

The slender, extremely elegant bow adorning Miss Dior Eau de Parfum thus returns to the original design of the Dior perfume icon. Slim and sharp, it retains the same bold and lively “swallow’s tail” cut. For the first time, it displays an iconic houndstooth pattern. This celebration of Dior style codes echoes current catwalks, where the bow, as well as Dior gray and houndstooth, are continually updated and reinvented.

Expert Weaving

Woven by the renowned Ateliers Faure, established in France in 1864, the new Miss Dior bow required expert savoir-faire. Its ribbon, made on a jacquard loom, weaves silver lurex threads across gray threads. This type of work, created with a “chain weaving” technique, delivers a ribbon requiring a record number of threads for every centimeter, and over 10,268 crossings. This rare bow with a couture soul thus required slow time and a highly intricate weaving process.

Bow Collection

Because a single ornament could never suffice for the stylish Miss Dior, this new houndstooth bow is offered in personalized, colorful and couture versions. The houndstooth is available in pale pink jacquard, black and white grosgrain, blue denim, and pink and silver tweed. In the ultimate detail, it is mounted on an innovative ring, as practical as it is playful, that can be changed as desired with the utmost simplicity.
