Hisense is once again among the organizations with the best results in global sustainability evaluations. Its European manufacturing operations have obtained, for the second consecutive year, the EcoVadis Platinum Medal, the highest distinction awarded by the platform, with a score of 89 out of 100 and a ranking in the top 1% of companies evaluated worldwide in terms of sustainability performance.
In today’s business environment, success is no longer measured exclusively through financial results, market share, or product innovation. For Hisense, the most recent Platinum recognition reflects a long-term effort to integrate sustainability into the foundations of the business. In recent years, the European manufacturing operations have consolidated environmental and energy management systems, expanded sustainability governance, increased the level of transparency through externally verified reporting, and integrated sustainability requirements along the supply chain.
The results are reflected in a wide range of initiatives. Among these are the installation of a 5.3 MW solar capacity in Velenje, water reuse projects in manufacturing processes, the increased use of recycled materials, fully recyclable packaging solutions, independent verification of sustainability reporting and carbon footprint data, as well as comprehensive sustainability due diligence programs for suppliers.
Sustainability performance is also supported through internationally recognized certifications and standards, including SA8000 for social responsibility, ISO 14001 for environmental management, ISO 50001 for energy management, and EMAS registration, with the company also continuing to be an active participant within the United Nations Global Compact.
A particularly important aspect of this year’s result is consistency. The evaluated company, Gorenje gospodinjski aparati d.o.o., responsible for European manufacturing operations, remains the only major home appliance manufacturer to have obtained the EcoVadis Platinum distinction for two consecutive years.
Obtaining the EcoVadis Platinum Medal for the second consecutive year demonstrates that long-term commitments can be transformed into measurable results. Today, sustainability requires the same discipline as any other business priority: clear objectives, reliable data, solid governance, and consistent implementation.
As the expectations of customers, business partners, investors, and regulatory authorities continue to evolve, transparency and accountability are becoming increasingly important indicators of corporate performance.
