- Beyond recycled materials, young people seek long-term performance: 37% prioritize a gadget that maintains its speed over time, while 33% demand repairability and extended software support
- The new Lenovo Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 responds to these requirements through high battery life and materials designed to withstand the intense pace of everyday life
Sustainability and product lifespan are becoming essential criteria for Generation Z when choosing their digital devices. According to a study conducted by Lenovo among students from this generation, 99% of respondents take environmental impact into consideration when investing in a new device.

For a generation deeply connected to climate realities, sustainability no longer means only the use of recycled materials in the manufacturing process, but translates directly into durability and the capacity of a product to withstand the test of time. Thus, young people seek gadgets built to last both physically and technically, in order to reduce the need for frequent replacement.
According to the research, a device that lasts a long time and maintains its speed is a key criterion for 37% of respondents. In addition, superior quality materials capable of withstanding the fast pace of student life classes, libraries, public transport, cafés are among the main priorities for 36% of young people.
What does Gen Z expect from manufacturers?
The Lenovo study highlights a clear list of requirements that today’s students have from technology brands:
- Support and circularity: Repairability and long-term software support are a priority for 33% of young people.
- Eco-responsible materials: Devices made from recycled materials or with a reduced environmental impact are sought by 32% of respondents.
- Green packaging and ethical production: Fully recyclable packaging (30%) and socially and environmentally responsible production (29%) complete the purchasing decision.
Technology ready for a hybrid lifestyle
The Lenovo Idea Tab Pro Gen 2, launched at MWC 2026, was designed to respond to the needs of a generation that constantly transitions from academic activities to creative projects and moments of relaxation.
The tablet combines a slim and portable design with a robust construction and a 10,200 mAh battery, designed to support extended usage sessions throughout the entire day. The 13-inch PureSight Pro display completes the experience, offering a device capable of supporting both productivity and entertainment.
As sustainability becomes an increasingly important criterion in purchasing decisions, Generation Z is redefining what a valuable device means: not just one that performs well at the moment of purchase, but one that maintains its usefulness and relevance over the long term. In this context, reliability, battery life, and durability become elements just as important as technical performance, contributing to a more responsible and sustainable user experience.
