Spotify celebrates the new Euromusic wave through two Spotify Singles recorded at Stockholm Studio, alongside rising European artists
Y2K eurodance, 2000s trance and Italo disco are no longer just nostalgic reference points. In 2026, the sound of European clubs is returning to the forefront and influencing pop culture once again, from music and fashion to festivals, memes and Eurovision-adjacent aesthetics.
In this context, Spotify launches two new Spotify Singles, recorded at Stockholm Studio, alongside two European artists who reinterpret defining tracks for European club music.
One of these releases centres on Erika Isac, who proposes an updated version of the hit “Mr. Saxobeat”, the Alexandra Stan track that brought the Romanian club sound to international stages and charts. For Erika Isac, reinterpreting the track carries a personal significance. The artist grew up in the same neighbourhood as Alexandra Stan, and this project thus becomes more than a simple revisiting of a hit: it is a tribute to a song that marked a generation and, at the same time, a moment of continuity between two Romanian artists from different generations.
“I grew up in the same neighbourhood as Alexandra, and that always made me feel a special connection with her music. Being able to create my own version of Mr. Saxobeat is a moment that closes a circle. The fact that we are going to make music together is a dream come true and I hope this collaboration will bring together fans from different generations,” says Erika Isac.
The new interpretation of “Mr. Saxobeat” comes at a moment when European club music is being rediscovered by a new generation. Eurodance, trance and Italo disco influences are appearing increasingly often in the productions of international artists, in the visual aesthetic of new pop projects and in the way young audiences consume music on digital platforms.
From the European pop universe built by Zara Larsson around the Midnight Sun and Girls Trip projects, to the ’90s Eurodance and 2000s trance references in the Danny L Harle and PinkPantheress sphere, or the Italo disco aesthetic transformed by Mind Enterprises into a recognisable lifestyle, Euromusic is returning as a current cultural language.
Alongside Erika Isac, Spotify also launches a reinterpretation by Swedish artist FELICIA, a Eurovision 2026 contestant, who brings back into focus Edward Maya’s “Stereo Love”, under the title “Me Without U”.
Through these two releases, Spotify marks the return of the euphoric European sound and brings iconic tracks of the 2000s into dialogue with artists who carry them forward for today’s audiences.
