In a significant shift within the fashion industry, esteemed Belgian designer Dries Van Noten has declared his decision to step down from his role as Creative Director of his namesake label after an illustrious 38-year career. This announcement, made to WWD, marks the end of an era for Van Noten, who is revered for his innovative designs and distinct aesthetic. He will present his final collection at the upcoming Paris Fashion Week Men’s for Spring/Summer 2025.

While Van Noten prepares to pass the torch, he leaves his legacy in capable hands. The brand’s internal design team, closely mentored by Van Noten, is set to craft the forthcoming SS25 women’s collection, maintaining the label’s celebrated artistic vision. An announcement regarding the new Creative Director will be made in due course, ensuring the continuity of the brand’s creative journey.

Though stepping back, Van Noten assures his continued involvement with the brand, emphasizing his trust in the team and commitment to the label’s future success. Founded in 1986 and a staple at Paris Fashion Week since 1992, the Dries Van Noten brand is renowned for its vibrant prints and distinctive silhouettes.

With the transition, Puig, which acquired a majority stake in the brand in 2018, will steward Dries Van Noten into its next chapter, honoring the designer’s legacy while embracing future innovations. Puig CEO Marc Puig expressed honor and responsibility in guiding the brand forward, signaling an exciting new chapter for both Dries Van Noten and the fashion world at large.
