Balenciaga has unveiled a striking new campaign for its Spring/Summer 25 collection, which pays homage to the glamorous screen tests of Hollywood’s golden era. The campaign, helmed by the renowned British photographer and filmmaker Nadia Lee Cohen, offers a fresh take on the quintessential elements of classic cinema. Known for her distinctive cinematic style that draws from old Hollywood, pop culture, and surrealism, Cohen’s direction perfectly aligns with Balenciaga’s creative vision.

Just hours after announcing Demna’s departure to Gucci, Balenciaga released this eagerly awaited campaign. It skillfully combines the nostalgia of black-and-white film tests with the modern flair of contemporary fashion. Each image and video in the campaign transforms the cast into timeless cinematic archetypes, utilizing costume and set design to craft compelling visual narratives.

The campaign features a diverse cast including actors like Kyle MacLachlan, Linda Honeyman, and Sunnyi Melles, alongside new faces such as artist Coumba Samba and several top models. These individuals are portrayed as classic film characters such as The Socialite, The Femme Fatale, and The Villain, with Linda Honeyman notably appearing as herself in a metafictional twist.
The visual content is supported by a backdrop that echoes the monochrome aesthetic of historical screen tests, while the narrative style of the campaign videos mimics the introspective pace of those bygone cinematic auditions.

This season’s collection highlights include the Laurel Classic Polo and new iterations of the iconic Rodeo Bag, now available in mineral green, grey, and almond. The campaign also spotlights key footwear such as Balenciaga Basketball Sneakers and collaborative designs with Scholl, featuring innovative heels and clogs.
With this campaign, Balenciaga not only celebrates the legacy of film but also redefines it, offering a modern interpretation that remains true to the brand’s pioneering aesthetic.
