Anna Deller-Yee, who calls herself “the designer that paints too much,” was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Coburg, Germany. With Japanese, Chinese, and German roots, Anna combines elements of fashion design and painting into visceral, visual, and tactile art, creating her own unique transdisciplinary language.
Anna’s passion for creation began in her childhood. Although born in Chicago, Illinois, she grew up in Coburg, Germany, in a multicultural family with American, Japanese, Chinese, and German heritage. At the age of eight, Anna was already aware that she wanted to pursue a career in creative industries. Driven by the desire to “learn everything [she] could about drawing and illustration,” she began taking fine art classes as a teenager, continuing until the end of high school.
For university, Anna moved to London to study at the London College of Fashion, later completing her studies with a master’s degree at the Royal College of Art. “LCF taught me the more commercial and business-related aspects of fashion, but my time at RCA (including the pandemic) brought me back to art,” she explained, reflecting on her time in London. “I returned to art, to drawing and painting, and started blending both worlds. That’s when I ironically began referring to myself as ‘the designer that paints too much.’ That label stuck and never left.”
Through her transdisciplinary approach, Anna Deller-Yee has managed to create a distinctive artistic language that reflects both her cultural heritage and personal experiences. Her collections are not just clothing; they are works of art that combine traditional painting techniques with modern fashion design, offering a unique experience to those who wear them.
Recently, Anna brought her creative touch to the Nike Women’s Collection, where she applied her artistic principles to fashion design. Each piece in the collection reflects the fusion of fashion and art characteristic of Anna Deller-Yee’s style, resulting from a creative process that combines painting techniques with modern design elements.
Today, Anna Deller-Yee continues to inspire and challenge the conventional boundaries of fashion, proving that art can be worn and that fashion can be a profound form of artistic expression. In a constantly changing world, she remains an example of how talent and innovation can create new ways to express cultural and personal identity.
