At Paris Fashion Week, both Dior and Saint Laurent showcased collections inspired by powerful female archetypes, drawing on themes of Amazons and female strength.

Maria Grazia Chiuri at Dior merged ancient mythology with contemporary sportswear, featuring archery performance artist SAGG Napoli on the runway as a modern Diana the Huntress. Chiuri’s designs highlighted asymmetry, with one-shoulder looks that referenced ancient Amazon warriors, and gladiator trainers capturing the spirit of athleticism from the recent Paris Olympics.

Anthony Vaccarello at Saint Laurent took a different approach, using masculine tailoring to enhance the power of his models, turning them into formidable “Wonder Women.” Broad-shouldered suits and edgy combinations of metallic fabrics, lace, and ribbon created a striking and bold aesthetic.

The atmosphere at the Saint Laurent show, with heavy rain instead of moonlight, added a melancholic yet dramatic touch to the powerful, androgynous silhouettes that walked the runway.

While both designers explored the strength of women through their collections, they did so in distinctive ways that reflected their unique visions for the modern Amazon.
