Alexandrion Group redefines the global vodka market with a premium, 100% Romanian product: OMU Vodka

OMU Vodka pays tribute to one of Romania’s highest mountain peaks, Omu Peak, with a label signed by mountaineer Horia Colibășanu. As part of the Nawaf Salameh Family Office, Alexandrion Group is changing the game in the international vodka market by launching a premium, entirely Romanian product inspired by the purity and beauty of the Bucegi Mountains. OMU Vodka honors one of Romania’s loftiest peaks and appeals to those with a spirit of adventure, a perpetual desire to explore, and a drive to push their limits.

The label is signed by Horia Colibășanu, one of the world’s most prolific mountaineers, with over 20 years of experience scaling peaks above 8,000 meters without supplemental oxygen or the aid of sherpas. Colibășanu has been named the Brand Ambassador for OMU Vodka.

Produced at Alexandrion Saber Distilleries 1789 from high-quality wheat, OMU Vodka is distilled seven times and filtered five times to ensure the purity of the liquid, a refined taste, and a premium experience. Dr. Nawaf Salameh, Founding President of Nawaf Salameh Family Office, stated, “OMU Vodka is the first Romanian vodka produced entirely by the Alexandrion Group team, and it is our responsibility to lead it to the top of its category. We have two other vodka brands in our portfolio, Kreskova Vodka and Alexander, which have been successful both nationally and internationally. These brands were acquired from other producers and have been developed over the years, with Kreskova Vodka being produced in Crete, while Alexander is the first private Romanian vodka brand produced in Iași by Salvaras Group, founded by a Greek businessman and his wife from the Republic of Moldova, the Salvaras family, based on a recipe created by a Romanian professor.”

Discussing the business strategy for the vodka category within the Alexandrion Group portfolio, Dr. Nawaf Salameh explained, “Two years ago, I promised that we would change the game in the global vodka market. OMU Vodka is the first step in this direction, representing the courage to adopt this approach in a highly competitive market. We aim to market OMU Vodka in over 200 countries, and this product has all the arguments to become well-known and appreciated internationally in a short time. In the long term, with the vodka brands in our portfolio, we aim to cover 10% of the global market share for this category.”

Horia Colibășanu, Brand Ambassador for OMU Vodka, shared his mountaineering beginnings and highlighted his association with the OMU Vodka brand at the event. “I started my mountaineering career in the Bucegi Mountains, where Omu Peak is located. My first trip was to the Bucegi Plateau when I was in the 11th grade. I left with a backpack from Sinaia Train Station and spent a week doing exactly what I wanted: climbing mountains and feeling a great sense of freedom. For me, the Bucegi Mountains and Omu Peak have special significance; they represent the beginning of my career as a mountaineer. So, I was excited about the discussion I had with representatives from Alexandrion Group, who offered me the role of Brand Ambassador. I felt that I had a lot in common with OMU Vodka: it is an authentic, honest brand that does what it says; both I and OMU Vodka prefer the cold, feeling better at -30 degrees Celsius than at +30 degrees Celsius. For me, the most important thing when I reach a mountain peak anywhere in the world is to raise the Romanian flag. OMU Vodka is a 100% Romanian brand, and I believe that this is its most important attribute, which will surely conquer consumers from many countries, just as mountaineers conquer new heights, always.”
