Over 10,000 people will take their seats at the 2.7-kilometer-long table, built from recyclable materials, around the Alba Carolina Citadel, with the chance to enter the Guinness World Records.
Alba Iulia is preparing to set the record for the longest table in the world made from recyclable materials. The initiative takes place during a historic event – “The Table That Unites”, organized by Bloom The World, inside the Alba Carolina Citadel, on September 13, starting at 4:00 p.m. The organizers will build around the citadel a table from recyclable materials, with a length of 2.7 kilometers, which has a chance to enter the Guinness World Records. Over 10,000 guests from across the country and another 1,000 people involved in the organization will participate in the event which, in addition to the community meal, will also include live concerts, folk ensemble performances, and children’s activities.
The story of the event “The Table That Unites”
The event “The Table That Unites” is part of a series of unique community meals organized by Bloom The World in spectacular places in Romania, such as the table on Mount Muntele Mic, in the Retezat Mountains, or the Meziad Cave. Each event “The Table That Unites” is a true celebration dedicated to the community, bringing together people from everywhere and promoting Romanian traditions, local gastronomy, and sustainability. Thus, the organizers knew that Alba Iulia, the city of the Great Union, deserved a world-renowned event.
“We want to put Alba Iulia on the world map and make it more well-known. There are many places here that deserve to be discovered. Even though it is a small county, usually smaller communities are more tightly knit and there is a closer relationship between people. It is my hometown, and I thought of organizing ‘The Table That Unites’ at home, both for the sake of memories and for the sake of the present and the future. The fact that we are bringing together 10,000 people and a team of over 1,000 supporters, to create something beautiful and to pass on joy, clearly shows that this must continue, because such an event creates a state of well-being, and it would be a shame to stop here and not go on.” – declared Alexa Vîlcan, General Manager of Bloom The World.
“The Table That Unites”, in numbers
Beyond the Guinness World Records entry, “The Table That Unites” also means the largest community effort, in which over 40 renowned companies joined forces and donated everything from food, drinks, benches, plates, cutlery, flowers, detergents, and napkins. Over 1,000 volunteers of all ages contributed to assembling the table and organizing the event with all its activities. For the construction of the 2.7-kilometer-long table around the Alba Carolina Citadel, nearly 1,500 euro pallets and 2,700 doka panels were used, transported by 10 trucks. 5.4 kilometers of benches and chairs will be placed around the table. The table will be decorated with 10,000 flowers, and on it will be placed 10,000 ceramic plates made from recycled materials, specially created for the event by the Apulum Factory. For the community meal, in which guests will participate free of charge, 5 tons of food will be prepared, with 5,000 liters of water used.
“Beyond the Guinness World Records registration, what we want is to show that Romania can be an example of solidarity, creativity, and community strength. This is a project where big and small companies, volunteers, and authorities chose to sit at the same table – literally and figuratively – to send a message of unity. For Magic Maker Communication, being part of this story means turning an event into a communication platform with national and international impact.” – added Mădălin Nițis, General Manager of Magic Maker Communication, co-organizer.
Activities for the whole family at “The Table That Unites”
The event in Alba Iulia will transform the Alba Carolina Citadel into a true stage of Romanian traditions and culture. Visitors will discover the authenticity of folklore through performances by the Tulnicăresele Moțate and local folk ensembles, as well as reenactment shows with Dacians and Romans inside the citadel of Alba Iulia. Children will have dedicated play areas, reading clubs, and creative workshops organized by the event partners. The day will end spectacularly with a live concert by The Motans.

“I have had the chance to be involved in several Guinness World Records certified projects, but I believe ‘The Table That Unites’ has a special dimension. We are not only talking about numbers and kilometers, but about an entire community sitting at the same table, with the same energy and the same desire to be together. For us, the team of the 11even Association, it is a joy and a responsibility to be part of an initiative that shows Romania has the power to create memorable moments, with a positive impact, that remain in history and in people’s hearts.” – emphasized Ovidiu Neamțu, Founder of 11even.
The event “The Table That Unites” is organized by Bloom The World, Magic Maker Communication, 11even Association, AVA Smart Events, Vânzător de idei, and supported by the Municipality of Alba Iulia.
