UNINVITED.: SEVEN GRADUATES TURN THEIR DEBUT INTO A STATEMENT

UNINVITED. brought to STRATA MODUL (Bucharest) seven emerging designers, 61 looks, and over 300 participants, in an independent fashion show produced outside the conventional circuits of the industry.

The idea behind the project was simple: if the context you need doesn’t exist, you build it.

UNINVITED. started from a reality familiar to any creator at the beginning of their journey: sometimes, the stage is not yet ready for you. Not because you have nothing to say, but because the mechanisms of access are slow, closed, or simply absent. In this reality, opportunity can no longer just be waited for. It must be imagined, negotiated, and built from within: from existing resources, from the relationships between people, and from their willingness to support one another.

Seven visions. No compromises.

The collections signed by Dominik-Lenard Csankovszky, Alexia Maria Oproescu, Teodora Nechita, Maria Enache, Raul Radulescu, Harun Mazlam, and Mario Gerald were developed over three years of study, research, and experimentation. Presented together for the first time, they built a broad image of the new generation of designers: personal, contradictory, and impossible to reduce to a single direction. Religion, identity, childhood, nostalgia, family, memory, gender, and transformation appeared on the runway not as general themes, but as experiences processed through material, silhouette, and construction.

Two levels. One single mechanism.

For the event, STRATA MODUL became the backstage, and SUBSTRATA the runway. The two levels functioned as parts of the same mechanism: upstairs, the preparation, adjustments, and rhythm of a team of over 100 people; downstairs, the presentation in front of an audience of over 200 spectators.

This transition between spaces made more than just the final result visible. UNINVITED. placed in the same frame the collections and the entire effort behind them: designers, models, hair and makeup teams, photographers, videographers, technicians, volunteers, and collaborators.

Produced under the umbrella of STRATA MODUL, the project functioned as an exercise in self-organization. Responsibilities, resources, and competencies were distributed among people who worked towards the same result, without a pre-existing infrastructure to guarantee their exposure.

In this sense, “uninvited” does not describe a passive position outside the system. It describes the refusal to wait for someone to grant access. When the invitation doesn’t come, the space can be built from within: through initiative, collaboration, and the ability to transform the absence of a context into a starting point.

This was only the first edition.

UNINVITED. was the first common chapter of the seven designers and the first edition of a platform that aims to create new contexts for presentation, collaboration, and encounter on the Romanian fashion scene.

“Fashion should be about stories sketched down to the last detail. Organizing this kind of event transformed us all into aspiring writers, and Strata Modul believed in our sartorial pages, all the way to publication. Enough with the wordplay: the local scene needs as many diverse contexts as possible and we hope that the UNINVITED. statement will become a manifesto with tradition,” says Teodora Nechita, the initiator of the UNINVITED. project.

COLLECTIONS PRESENTED

Dominik-Lenard Csankovszky -AMEN
6 looks

AMEN is a collection of wearable sculptures that analyzes the influence of the religious institution on the construction of personal identity and on the limits imposed on individual expression. Using molded leather, crosses, and references to the iconography of Jesus, the project highlights the conflict between authentic identity and the social and moral norms imposed by the church.

Alexia Maria Oproescu – DUAL ESSENCE
7 looks

DUAL ESSENCE explores the coexistence of feminine and masculine energy within the same identity. Fashion becomes a visual language that shows that these two energies are not opposites, but complementary. Each piece reflects the tension and harmony between structure and fluidity, strength and sensitivity.

Teodora Nechita -NOT REALLY EVERYTHING
15 looks

NOT REALLY EVERYTHING starts from the question: if everything passes, but not quite everything, then what remains? Starting from the designer’s interest in a free translation of the world through a childlike lens, the collection invites you to an introspective hopscotch around everything that is most beautiful and must remain with the viewer, regardless of the narrative of their own existence. A “fondant” color palette, a leitmotif of bold wings, and a spoonful of cake, for a more sincere world.

Maria Enache -THAT’S SO HOT
6 looks

THAT’S SO HOT reinterprets the aesthetic of the 2000s through sexy silhouettes, vibrant colors, prints, platforms, and bold accessories. The collection reclaims the visual excess of the period and filters it through the designer’s personal and deeply nostalgic perspective.

Raul Radulescu – DYNASTY
9 looks

DYNASTY builds a conceptual parallel between the universe of puppet shows and the projection of the inner child onto the image of a royal family, this relationship being reinterpreted and transposed into a mature visual language.

Harun Mazlam – O MIE DE PAȘI (A THOUSAND STEPS)
6 looks

A THOUSAND STEPS is an autobiographical collection about becoming, memory, and the acceptance of one’s own truth. The garment becomes the extension of a personal journey and preserves the traces of inner revolt, of the stages traversed, and of the encounters that changed the designer’s direction. Situated between wearable object and wearable art, the pieces mark the beginning of a deeply personal artistic language.

Mario Gerald – PERSONAL POETRY
12 looks

PERSONAL POETRY is a visual poem, whose blank verse is translated through an eclectic collage of patterns and textures that decipher the amalgam of emotions associated with the most sensitive inner flashbacks. A maximalist noise that deceives the silence of a world reduced to quiet.
