August 16. Starting today, the Uber app is available in four new cities: Târgu Jiu, Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Reșița and Slobozia. With this launch, the company expands its presence in Romania to 31 cities: Bucharest, Brașov, Timișoara, Cluj, Iași, Constanța, Oradea, Craiova, Ploiești, Pitești, Galați, Brăila, Sibiu, Buzău, Bacău, Râmnicu Vâlcea, Alba Iulia, Arad, Târgu Mureș, Baia Mare, Târgoviște, Suceava, Satu Mare, Botoșani, Tulcea, Focșani, Bistrița and now, Târgu Jiu, Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Reșița and Slobozia.
Between August 16 – 21, new users in each city can use promo codes for 2 free UberX rides, up to 20 lei for each ride.

In these four cities, just like in all other Romanian cities where the app is available, Uber works exclusively with licensed drivers. The company is launching UberX, its most popular service, which offers safe and affordable rides with short waiting times.

How Uber works
● Download the Uber app on your phone and create an account
● The app opens with a simple question: “Where to?”
● Enter your destination, and the app will display the ride price
● Track your trip in real time and share your location and ETA with friends or family
● Pay in cash or by card
● At the end, give your driver a rating and feedback
● You will receive an electronic receipt by email, and you can download the tax invoice from your Uber account
More than just a ride
Passenger safety is Uber’s top priority, which is why the company continuously develops new in-app features. All rides are carried out by licensed partners who must meet the criteria regulated by authorities in order to join the platform. In addition, the app includes multiple safety options for riders, such as trip sharing with loved ones, PIN verification, audio recording, emergency buttons, and more.
Promo codes are valid for 2 rides only during the mentioned period, with a maximum discount of 20 Lei per ride. Promo codes cannot be exchanged for cash and are valid only in the city for which they were activated. If the ride fare is less than 20 Lei, the difference cannot be redeemed in cash or credits.
To add a promo code in the Uber app, go to the Account section, then select Wallet and Promotions. Choose the option Add promo code and enter the code.
