Sneakers have long surpassed the sports field – they’ve entered a new era, redefining their role in the wardrobe. From symbols of urban culture to statement pieces in contemporary fashion, they’ve come a long and spectacular way.

Brands are exploring new creative territories, blurring the lines between style and functionality. We’re witnessing bold fusions, like the elegant details of loafers reinterpreted with chunky, comfortable soles – such as the New Balance 1906 Loafer – or surprising reinterpretations like knee-high sneakers from Converse, offering a new perspective on casual style.

One of the most intriguing crossovers to watch? The rise of the Sneakerina – an elegant fusion between ballet flats and sneakers. Initially appearing in luxury collections, such as Louis Vuitton’s Sneakerina, this refined silhouette has also been reimagined by brands like Adidas and Camper. At the same time, Mary Jane sneakers are bringing a preppy flair to the scene, combining delicate straps and rounded toes with comfortable soles and sporty accents.

Sneakers have journeyed far from the gym to the heart of everyday fashion, adding a cool, relaxed air even to the most refined styles. From romantic to minimalist looks, sneakers fit seamlessly into any wardrobe. “We’ve seen a 20% increase in interest for low-profile models inspired by motorsport, ballet, or martial arts,” says Daniela Klaeser, Team Lead Streetwear Buying at Zalando. Favorites include the Puma Speedcat and Speedcat Ballet, Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66, and Adidas Originals Tokyo, Japan, and Taekwondo.
