Stuttgart. Inspired by a rich heritage and designed for the future, Mercedes-Benz takes the “Sensual Purity” design philosophy further. The first production model reflecting this evolution is the new Mercedes-Benz electric GLC, equipped with EQ technology.

A defining element of the new model is the completely redesigned front grille: a spectacular central feature that preserves the Mercedes-Benz spirit and expresses it through clean lines, minimalism, and cutting edge technology. The new electric GLC will have its world premiere at IAA Mobility in Munich on September 7, 2025.

A new era of iconic design: redefining the Mercedes- Benz visual identity

For over 100 years, the chrome grille has been an essential element of almost every Mercedes-Benz model, constantly evolving. From the vertical proportions and simple details of the early years to the sophisticated horizontal architecture of recent decades, the grille has become an unmistakable visual signature present on millions of vehicles.

Reference models such as the legendary Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman (W100, 1963–1981)“Strich 8” (W114, 1968–1973), or the S-Class W108 (1965–1972) and W111 (1959–1968) reflect this heritage.

The chrome grille is one of the strongest visual symbols of the Mercedes-Benz DNA, making the brand instantly recognizable. That is why the new emblematic grille marks a defining moment for a brand that has written history in the automotive industry.

From a functional component in the era of combustion engines, the grille of the new electric GLC becomes a piece of illuminated art, an expression of refinement, prestige, and cutting-edge technology in a clean and minimalist visual language.

This bold reinterpretation is reflected in three key elements:

  • a wide chrome frame,
  • a mesh structure with a smoked glass effect,
  • and integrated contour lighting.

The optional illuminated version integrates 942 backlit light points capable of animation, bringing the electric GLC to life in a spectacular way. Additionally, the central star and the grille outline are also illuminated, highlighting the model’s visual identity.
