Sónar Lisboa 2024

A Convergence of Music, Innovation, and Artistry

Sónar Lisboa 2024 is set to illuminate the Portuguese capital with its third edition, promising an electrifying blend of music, innovation, and creativity. From March 22 to 24, the festival will become a pulsating heart of global electronica, showcasing an impressive lineup of 55 artists, both emerging talents and established names, ready to redefine the musical landscape over two days and two nights.

Dynamic Installations and Eclectic Lineups

A highlight of this year’s festival is the immersive installation ‘LIMBIC LANDMARKS’ by the Zabra Collective. This captivating work is designed to transcend mere physical geography, inviting attendees to navigate the emotional contours that shape our perceptual worlds. It’s an artistic endeavor that reflects Sónar Lisboa’s commitment to blending cutting-edge music with groundbreaking visual arts.

The revered Pavilhão Carlos Lopes will resonate with diverse sonic experiences, featuring performances by luminaries such as Paul Kalkbrenner, Sevdaliza, and the dynamic duo Tiga & Hudson Mohawke. Their showcase ‘Love Minus Zero’ is among the many eagerly anticipated acts, alongside Shygirl’s ‘Club Shy’, Branko, and Oneohtrix Point Never. Attendees can also look forward to DJ sets from industry stalwarts like Bonobo, Eliza Rose, and the collaborative brilliance of 2manydjs with Éclair Fifi & Erol Alkan, not to mention electrifying back-to-back sessions from Helena Hauff and IMOGEN.

Innovations and Nighttime Spectacles

In addition to its stellar lineup, Sónar Lisboa introduces the SonarCashless system this year, streamlining transactions and enhancing the festival experience. This user-friendly feature underscores the festival’s ethos of blending technology with entertainment, ensuring a seamless journey through its myriad offerings.

As the sun sets, Sónar by Night comes alive with groundbreaking performances. Sevdaliza’s show, integrating AI to challenge notions of gender and identity, promises to be a profound experience. Meanwhile, Tiga & Hudson Mohawke’s album ‘L’Ecstasy’ takes audiences on a sonic odyssey through the annals of house and techno.

Daytime Delights and Artistic Mergers

The festival’s daytime segment on March 23rd brims with innovation and fervor, spread across three stages. Oneohtrix Point Never returns to Sónar, blurring lines between the avant-garde and the nostalgic, while TOMMY CASH’s unique blend of trap and hyperpop is sure to captivate. The shared affinity for melancholic synths and unconventional rhythms will see Perel and Wata Igarashi join forces with Dresden, paving the way for Paul Kalkbrenner’s euphoric techno crescendo.

Sónar Lisboa 2024 is more than a festival; it’s a confluence of artistic brilliance and technological evolution, a space where music and art intersect to create unforgettable experiences. As it gears up to welcome aficionados and artists alike, the city of Lisbon prepares for a celebration that will echo through its streets and beyond, marking another milestone in the festival’s illustrious journey.
