There are 10 days left until the largest environmental volunteering action in Romania. The Let’s Do It, Romania! association invites everyone who wants to contribute to a cleaner future to sign up and take part in National Cleanup Day, which takes place on September 19, simultaneously in 190 countries. Millions of people around the world are getting increasingly involved in protecting the environment, and the number of volunteers is growing. In Romania, over 81,000 volunteers from across the country show that they want to be part of the change and have signed up to take part in the largest action dedicated to cleaning up nature, now in its 13th edition.
Over 2.9 million Romanians have gotten involved, from 2010 to the present, in cleanup actions alongside the Let’s Do It, Romania! team, which is part of the global Let’s Do It World organization. Registration is done at app.letsdoitromania.ro.
Year after year, National Cleanup Day brings together pupils, students, young people, families, companies, authorities, artists, journalists, celebrities, organizations and local communities who choose to turn civic involvement into a concrete action for a cleaner environment. Through their participation, volunteers contribute both to collecting waste abandoned in nature and to building a culture of responsibility toward the environment.

“We thank the more than 81,000 people who have already signed up for National Cleanup Day. We’re glad to see that, year after year, more and more people are choosing to get involved and to contribute to changing the places where they live. We’re waiting to have those who haven’t signed up yet join us as well, on September 19. Together we can turn a Saturday into an action that shows in our communities and in nature,” states Agata Bulei, Project Manager Let’s Do It, Romania! and National Cleanup Day Coordinator, states Anamaria Hâncu, Co-founder Let’s Do It, Romania!
National Cleanup Day has become officially recognized through Law 266/2024. Through this campaign, the organizers aim, besides collecting tons of waste from nature, to also raise people’s awareness about the environment and about what they leave behind. This year’s theme for National Cleanup Day is “What do you leave behind?” and calls for reflection and awareness of every gesture in everyday life.
