In an era where any prompt can generate an image in a matter of seconds, Rockstadt Extreme Fest chooses to turn its back on shortcuts. The festival announces the launch of The Unholy Ink, a competition open to its community, with one single objective: finding the design that will appear on the official merch of the 2026 edition. The winner doesn’t receive a voucher or an honorable mention. They receive production.

The initiative comes from a conviction the festival has practiced for years: merch is not an auxiliary product, it’s a cultural document. The right design on a t-shirt circulates for years after the curtain has closed, functioning as an identity marker for those who were there, and as a sign of recognition for those who didn’t get the chance. That’s why it matters who signs it and how.

The rules are simple and deliberate: any technique is accepted drawing, painting, digital, collage, engraving, etc. as long as the work is 100% original and belongs to the author. One thing is strictly prohibited: artwork generated with artificial intelligence. Not out of nostalgia for the analog, but from a principle that The Unholy Ink states explicitly: real art, made by real people no prompts, no generators, no shortcuts.

“Rockstadt was built from the very beginning together with the people around it. The community is not just an audience, it’s part of the festival’s identity. The Unholy Ink comes exactly from this idea: what we carry forward as merch should reflect the culture that has formed here not just a design, but a collective signature.” stated the Rockstadt Extreme Fest Organizers.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Works are uploaded on the competition’s dedicated page: rockstadtextremefest.ro/the-unholy-ink-rockstadt-extreme-fest/. Participants must confirm that the work belongs entirely to them and does not infringe any copyright. Optionally, they may include a brief description of the concept not mandatory, but welcome.

Deadline: April 15, 2026, at 23:59.

The 2026 edition is already shaping up to be one of the most substantial to date. The lineup brings together names that define and span generations of metal, from The Prodigy and Marilyn Manson, to Sabaton, Helloween and Accept, alongside the contemporary force of bands such as Lamb of God, In Flames, Slaughter to Prevail and Arch Enemy. Joining them are Black Label Society, Amorphis, Hatebreed, Candlemass, Satyricon, Nevermore and The Gathering, in a lineup that tells a story about the evolution and diversity of metal culture.

In this context, “The Unholy Ink” becomes a natural extension of the community that defines Rockstadt a culture that doesn’t merely consume, but actively contributes to what the festival means.

Tickets for Rockstadt Extreme Fest 2026 are already available in limited numbers on the official website, across multiple pricing tiers, and the consistently high interest each year points to another sellout well before the festival kicks off.
