Kapital Festival, prepared in an improved format, impossible to organise in 2026 due to a complex accumulation of external factors, is rescheduled for 2027
Over 100 people have been working since the end of last year’s edition in order to take the Kapital experience to the next level, with an improved format, as the Capital, the people of Bucharest, and fans from across the country and abroad deserve.
Unfortunately, despite all efforts and the desire to overcome the existing challenges until the very last moment, the accumulation of external factors makes it impossible to organise Kapital this summer, in the improved format and at the location that is the festival’s home.
The legislative changes dragged out for months by the authorities, which affected the capacity to organise a festival at the National Arena, the current economic crisis that has impacted the vast majority of the population in Romania and the region, the instability generated by the political factor, the absence of a Government, as well as the overtaxation of events (almost 40% of the price of a ticket represents fiscal and parafiscal taxes), make it impossible to organise the festival in July of this year.
The organisers have taken this difficult decision, however it is the only responsible decision that was required in such a context and one that would not affect the quality of the project and the standards to which people have been accustomed. Together with the authorities, partners and confirmed artists, the organisers have taken the decision to reschedule the 2nd edition for 2027.
“The festival’s fans are the soul of Kapital. Our hearts are broken that we will not be able to meet this year, after so much work and effort put in to offer them a memorable experience. It was one of the most difficult decisions we have had to make, however it is the only responsible decision that offers people the guarantee that they will be able to reunite at the second KAPITAL edition with the complete experience. We hope that from the perspective of political and economic predictability as well, things will improve quickly, because a festival of this scale needs predictability and many good months of organisation.” Bogdan Buta, CEO & Founder Kapital Festival
The festival’s organisers promise that the 2027 edition will be even more spectacular and continue the story begun in 2025, around which an impressive community has coalesced.
“The situation this year motivates us to give everything we possibly can and to exceed everyone’s expectations in 2027. Our plan is for the second edition to also take place at the same location, during the same period, with the same ingredients that we know fans have enjoyed. We have already begun preparations for 2027 we will most certainly keep you informed.” Edy Chereji, Co-founder & Chief Public Affairs Kapital Festival
