COS returned to the catwalk for its first presentation in Rome. Yesterday, in the capital of Italy, the brand showcased the SS24 mainline and Atelier capsule collection on the runway. The presentation took place at the Corsie Sistine, a part of a 15th-century hospital known as the oldest in Europe. The building has been preserved and restored by the local health organization ASL Roma 1 (Local Health Authority). A modern structure made of recycled voile juxtaposed with the historic location, while the models – including the iconic Italian supermodel Mariacarla Boscono – revealed 33 elegant outfits surrounded by over 1000 square meters of frescoes.

This season, fluid volumes and delicate, transparent materials, layered, meet sculptural lines, combining elegant draping with precision tailoring. Off-the-shoulder blouses and wide trousers dress the wearer, creating a dynamic image with playful volumes that exude confidence. Pieces in the traditional relaxed style are reinvented from semi-transparent materials cascading over the body, while classic suits made of fine silk offer a loose and unstructured silhouette.

COS also introduced pieces from the latest Atelier collection on the runway, which continues to stand out for its fine materials and impeccable attention to detail. Statement outfits include manually pleated oversized shoulders, mermaid skirts, and fluid maxi lengths, while suits and knits are redefined with elongated sleeves and lapels folded inward. Experimenting with technique, manipulation, and material cutting, the surface texture of leather jackets, ballet flats, and loafers is enhanced. Pleated wide-leg trousers have hand-painted edges, creating depth and a sense of fluid movement.

Studying the materiality of light, COS experiments with color infusion through materials and translucent surfaces. Bold red tones used in daring stylings create a striking contrast against a neutral background – steel blue, black, white, and sandy. Traditional craftsmanship seamlessly blends with modern tailoring principles. The brand’s commitment to sustainable design and uncompromising quality continues in the latest collections. Several materials sourced from sustainable sources are present, including paper yarns, recycled materials, and fibers certified by the Responsible Wool Standard.

A selection of items from the runway collection will be immediately available in COS stores and on cos.com, with the rest of the pieces becoming available throughout the warm season. The Atelier collection will be officially launched starting in April.

About Corsie Sistine:
Corsie Sistine or “Sistine Halls” are part of the oldest hospital in Europe, Santo Spirito in Sassia, which has cared for people in the heart of Rome for 800 years. An exceptional example of Italy’s historical heritage in the medical, architectural, and artistic fields, it was built by the Pope in the 15th century for women and children and has since been preserved and restored by the local health organization ASL Roma 1 (Local Health Authority). The Sistine Halls received patients until the late 1980s and feature frescoes painted at the end of the 15th century by artists belonging to the Umbro-Roman school, comparable to the Sistine Chapel, depicting the origins of the hospital and the most important episodes in the lives of Popes Innocent III and Sixtus IV.
