The festival program begins on Friday, March 27, at 19:00, with Primavera, the cinema debut of Damiano Michieletto, one of the most appreciated European directors of opera and theatre.

Known for his productions staged on the great lyric stages of Europe, Michieletto brings to film his visual and musical experience in a story set in Venice at the beginning of the eighteenth century. The film follows the destiny of a young violinist raised in an orphanage, whose life changes with the arrival of a new music teacher: Antonio Vivaldi. The meeting between the two becomes the starting point of a story about talent, courage and the power of music to open new paths.

Primavera is distributed in Romania by Follow Art Distribution and will premiere in cinemas starting April 3.

The film was presented at the Venice Film Festival, where Toni Servillo won the Coppa Volpi for Best Actor. The actor returns in a central role in Sorrentino’s cinematic universe, portraying a President of Italy at the end of his mandate, in a story about power, public image and the life behind the function.

The film is distributed in Romania by Independența Film and will premiere in cinemas starting April 17.

The festival concludes on Sunday, March 29, at 19:00, with Fuori, the most recent film by director Mario Martone.

Inspired by the autobiographical volume L’Università di Rebibbia, the film brings to the forefront the writer Goliarda Sapienza, captured at a turning point in her life after she ends up in prison in Rome in the 1980s. The experience of detention and the encounter with two young inmates become for her a moment of transformation and rediscovery of the joy of writing. Portrayed by Valeria Golino, the author of the famous novel L’arte della gioia gains on screen a powerful presence in a film about freedom, female solidarity and the possibility of starting over.
