Help nature and you could win prizes!
The Let’s Do It, Romania! team, the largest social movement in the country, is launching a campaign that encourages citizens to actively get involved in protecting the environment and in combating abandoned waste in nature and ragweed, one of the most allergenic plants. Until August 31, users who report abandoned waste or ragweed through the Let’s Do It, Romania! app are automatically entered into a prize draw.
Those who help nature can win a bicycle, Wellbeing kits from SECOM, Let’s Do It, Romania! goodie bags containing a book, a reusable bag, and a T-shirt, or Schaeffler promotional kits.
“Through this campaign we want to transform civic involvement into a simple and accessible habit for everyone. Every report contributes to a cleaner environment and a healthier community, and we want to thank those who choose to take action by giving them the chance to win prizes,” declares Agata Bulei, Project Manager Let’s Do It, Romania!
To date, over 1,000 reports have been registered in the Let’s Do It, Romania app, both for waste and for ragweed. Over 65% of these have already been resolved, demonstrating the efficiency of the reporting mechanism and the collaboration between citizens and authorities.
The reporting process is simple and takes less than two minutes. Users must create an account in the Let’s Do It, Romania! app, take a clear photo of the waste or ragweed plant, and mark the location on the map. The location is automatically retrieved through the phone’s GPS function or can be entered manually. Users can also add a short text with additional information to facilitate the identification of the area.
Once the report is submitted and validated, the alert appears on the app’s public map and is officially sent to the competent local authority the City Hall, Local Police, and Environmental Guard of the targeted locality. In the event that the reported problem is not resolved within the legal timeframe, the report is forwarded further to the National Environmental Guard.
Through these reports, citizens can directly contribute to the elimination of waste and to combating ragweed, an invasive plant that affects the health of a large number of people and causes severe allergies during the pollination season.
The Let’s Do It, Romania app is available for free and can be downloaded from Google Play and the App Store.
On September 19, over 300,000 Romanians are invited to become volunteers and participate in the National Clean-Up Day, on September 19.
