Porsche Engineering Romania celebrates ten years of activity this year. Over the last decade, the company has consolidated its market position, becoming an important hub in the field of software and engineering, with offices in Cluj-Napoca and Timișoara. As part of Porsche Engineering a technology partner with international experience that provides engineering services and digital solutions for the automotive industry and other sectors the company contributes its expertise to the global research network.

Currently, over 380 specialists work in fields such as software-defined systems, embedded software, artificial intelligence, connectivity, electrification, system engineering, and testing. The contributions of Romanian specialists include software systems developed from the earliest stages and currently used in series production across various customer platforms and in various industries, as well as solutions that use neural networks for the efficient detection of obstacles through the processing of data from sensors and cameras. They have also created an artificial intelligence platform that initially functioned internally as a proof-of-concept and subsequently evolved into an enterprise-level solution, playing a role in AI adoption across the entire Porsche Engineering company.
“Over the last ten years, Porsche Engineering Romania has become an important pillar of our international research and development network,” underlines Dirk Lappe, CTO of Porsche Engineering and Chairman of the Shareholders’ Committee of Porsche Engineering Romania. “Through technical excellence and close collaboration within our global network, the center in Romania makes an important contribution to innovation in the automotive field and beyond.”

In addition to its research activity in the automotive industry, Porsche Engineering Romania is also expanding its expertise into other fields of application. A recent example is the field of maritime electric mobility, where technologies tested in the automotive industry have been adapted to the specific requirements of the maritime domain. The Romanian team contributed to the development, integration, testing, and validation of software applications, the project also marking the company’s first implementation of the international AUTOSAR standard, upon which software development for modern vehicle systems is based. By adopting it, the company expands its expertise into a new field of engineering, complementary to its traditional activities.
