Levi’s latest capsule collection, the 2024 WellThread Spring/Summer, is a testament to years of design innovation, featuring plant-based indigo dye that represents the pinnacle of style, sustainability, and innovation in design. This collection remains committed to sustainable manufacturing practices, consistently applying best practices to reduce chemical processes, energy, and water consumption.
This season’s WellThread collection maintains its ethos of minimizing environmental impact by utilizing transitional cotton and plant-based dyes to create timeless garments in classic silhouettes, designed to be worn for decades. From soft ecru denim with a suede-like texture to botanical prints using plant-based dyes on fresh, lustrous pieces, the Levi’s WellThread 2024 Spring/Summer capsule builds on years of innovation.
Entirely crafted from natural plant-based dyes, the latest capsule collection introduces a unique approach to printing. This season’s diffused botanical prints, created from natural dyes, allow the WellThread team to experiment with unique prints on classic silhouettes. The denim is dyed entirely with 100% plant-based ink across all items in the collection.
Once again, every piece in the collection is made entirely from transitional cotton – cotton on its way to being certified organic. Levi’s WellThread’s transitional cotton program was launched in 2020, working with small farmer partners in India who are adapting their farming practices to support soil health, the ecosystem, and people through ecological processes, biodiversity, and cycles adapted to local conditions. Levi’s alleviates the financial risk for farmers transitioning to organic agriculture by committing to purchase the resulting crop, showing concern for both the ecosystem and the people. The WellThread capsules pave the way for more sustainable cotton production.
The Levi’s WellThread 2024 Spring/Summer capsule collection brings design innovation with six pieces in radiant ecru and blue-white botanical prints on relaxed, wide silhouettes. For women, the subtly structured Orchard pants and the matching Down to Earth Trucker jacket offer a perfectly tonal look. The ’80s Mom shorts use the pixelated botanical print for an extremely light blue hue, while the elegant and versatile Wildflower denim dress completes the selection. For men, the Stay Loose Carpenter pants use the same barely visible blue on a relaxed classic silhouette, which can be paired with the Stonefield shirt, perfect for layering or as a standalone piece.
“As a platform for innovation and testing, our ultimate goal with WellThread is to explore possibilities and identify best practices for reducing the manufacturing process’s impact,” says Paul Dillinger, Vice President, Head of Global Product Innovation at Levi Strauss & Co. “By consistently applying core principles in our design, we are proud to continue our exploration to find sustainable alternatives like pixelated botanical printing with plant-based dyes. Our latest collection contains fresh, timeless, comfortable, and easy-to-coordinate pieces.”
